Rolling Deadline: Master of Arts in Government and Politics - Rome Campus

Still daydreaming about that study abroad experience you had during your undergraduate studies? Or perhaps you didn't have that opportunity and instead are wondering "what if?" Well, that's all the more reason to study in Rome as a St. John's University Graduate Student.
Graduate Programs Abroad
Students in the graduate programs at SJU's Rome campus have the best of both worlds - earning an American degree while living in a major European center of government, politics, international organizations, and multinational corporations. Students benefit from small class sizes and distinguished faculty - all faculty members in the Masters of Arts program hold doctoral degrees and come from the New York campus.

The 33 credit Master of Arts in Government and Politics at SJU brings students from around the world to analyze international relations issues in an ideal setting: Rome, Italy. This program prepares students for an array of opportunities in the civil or foreign services, positions of political or administrative responsibility in the public or private sectors, careers in education, or for further study pursing doctoral degrees or law students. We accept applicants on a rolling admission basis; once your application and other necessary documents are received, we will forward them to the appropriate department for review.

Additional Rome programs include MBA Finance, MBA International Business, MBA Marketing Management, and MA Museum Administration. For more information about the programs and majors offered at St. John's University, visit us on the web.

Career Trends | Ringing in the New Year with Job Openings!

With a whole year ahead of us, now’s the time to make your workplace and career plans for 2015. Graduate students rejoice, we have some good news for you.

According to CareerBuilder’s annual job forecast, more than one third of employers expect to add full-time, permanent employees this new year - the best outlook from the survey since 2006!

Here are some workplace trends to watch in 2015:
Education requirements: Hiring managers are noticing the trend of complex and data-driven roles  within their organizations. To compensate these evolving positions, about 28% of companies say they’re now looking to hire more workers with master’s degrees for positions that previously were held by those with a four year degree.

Minimum wage increasing: One of the hottest topics for debate, minimum wage. But according to 45% of employers, they expect to raise the minimum wage within their organizations this new year. Of these employers, about half of them expect to increase wages by $2 or more per hour, while a third will raise it by $3 or more.

Small businesses ramping up: Not interested in working for large corporations? You’re in luck. To meet increased market demands, about 29% of small businesses with 250 or fewer employees are expecting to add full time, permanent workers (a 22% increase from last year).

Whether you are currently enrolled in one of St. John’s University’s Graduate Programs or are considering furthering your education, our highly competitive advanced degree programs will challenge you to become the very best you can possibly be. New Year, New You - Furthering Your Education in 2015

Make time for exercise, travel more, and quit smoking. These are some of the most popular New Year’s resolutions each year, but they don’t always align with everyone. For some, getting more organized is more constructive than shedding some pounds. For others, the New Year may be better spent growing intellectually by continuing education.

Here are some habits and behaviors to adopt this new year to make 2015 better than the last!

  • Manage Time Wisely - Learning where to disperse your energy and likewise, where not to, has countless benefits. Less stress, improved production, fewer mistakes, and free time for starters. While there are a variety of digital apps to choose from, for those of us who prefer writing things down - that’s where the Passion Planner comes in. We’ve shared this link on our Facebook page earlier last month, however if you haven’t seen this yet Passion Planner is your own personal, 24/7, inexpensive life coach - helping you to balance, prioritize, and take the steps to get to where you want to be. Determine your daily and weekly to do lists and eliminate everyday distractions.
  • Sleep Well - One of the best ways to keep your body and mind in tip top shape? A good night’s rest. According to the National Institutes of Health, an estimated 50 - 70 million Americans suffer from chronic sleep disorders. Poor sleep quality has negative effects on how well and how long you can focus on tasks, it places you at a higher risk for serious health problems, and prevents you from fully recovering from daily stresses. This year, aim to go to bed even 15 minutes earlier than normal and try to stick to the same time each night. Do something relaxing about an hour before bed - like reading, meditating, or listening to music to help improve the quality of your sleep.
  • Further Your Education - Whether you are looking to advance in your current career or lay the foundation to start a new one, going back to school is a great way to grow intellectually and discover a sense of purpose. Give yourself the opportunity to explore, find, and create new interests and passions. The graduate schools at St. John’s University in New York offer more than 60 graduate degree and professional certificate programs in five acclaimed colleges, a School of Law, and institute dedicated solely to the growing field of biotechnology.
