At St. John’s, graduate students of the program have access to the SJU Speech and Hearing Center, a state of the art facility for the diagnosis and treatment of speech, language and hearing disorders in children and adults. The Center is a rich resource of materials and equipment to support the clinical practicum experience. This facility serves as a training center for students while offering diagnostic and therapeutic services to the community. Students also have the opportunity to engage in externships and a unique global study experience in Guatemala.
This program is accredited by the Council of Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and is deemed to be licensure-qualifying by the New York State Board of Professional Licensing of the New York State Education Department.
Applicants must submit the below materials by February 1st for Fall Admission consideration:
- Submit three (3) letters of recommendation
- Submit a 300-word written statement of career goals
- Submit GRE scores
- Have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- Have the following undergraduate pre-requisite coursework in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology:
- CSD 1710- Phonetics
- CSD 1720- Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech System
- CSD 1730- Language Acquisition
- CSD 1740- Introduction to Hearing Science
- CSD 2750- Introduction to Audiology
- CSD 2760- Speech-Language Pathology I: Language Disorders
- CSD 2770- Speech-Language Pathology II: Speech Disorders
- 21 credits
