With a whole year ahead of us, now’s the time to make your workplace and career plans for 2015. Graduate students rejoice, we have some good news for you.
According to CareerBuilder’s annual job forecast, more than one third of employers expect to add full-time, permanent employees this new year - the best outlook from the survey since 2006!
Here are some workplace trends to watch in 2015:
Education requirements: Hiring managers are noticing the trend of
complex and data-driven roles within their organizations. To compensate
these evolving positions, about 28% of companies say they’re now
looking to hire more workers with master’s degrees for positions that
previously were held by those with a four year degree.
Minimum wage increasing: One of the hottest topics for debate, minimum wage. But according to 45% of employers, they expect to raise the minimum wage within their organizations this new year. Of these employers, about half of them expect to increase wages by $2 or more per hour, while a third will raise it by $3 or more.
Small businesses ramping up: Not interested in working for large corporations? You’re in luck. To meet increased market demands, about 29% of small businesses with 250 or fewer employees are expecting to add full time, permanent workers (a 22% increase from last year).
